Born in the U.S.A.?

If I think about a country I'd like to live in, it's U.S.A. I just love the United States. I've been there twice so far during two amazing trips I will never forget.
I visited some of the most famous cities in the world, I crossed miles and miles of countryside, fields or desert, I went hiking in some magnificent natural parks. And the most odd thing is that the most part of people I met in the U.S.A., after asking me where I was from, just exclaimed: "wow! Italy?! You're so lucky! It's the most beautiful country all over the world!". That's not so true. Undoubtedly here in Italy we have good food, great landscapes, good quality of our products and so on. Of course there are lots and lots of problems and bad aspects too, but that's not what I want to discuss now.

Anyway, why am I so attracted to the U.S.A.? Well, first of all, I think we are very different in mentality and culture. What I love about the American way of life is that it permits you to dream. Everything seems possible over there. Lots of stories are told about normal or poor people who found their own way to the success. In the Unites States everything's so huge too! Cities and Nature look like they're endless. You always feel like you have a whole world of possibilities in front of you. There is place for everyone! Everything looks important, imposing. In every corner you can find something famous you had seen in a movie or on the news . The American way of life is what we are used to see on the TV. Everything is a symbol, an emblem. The Americans seem to be a united block of million and million people, who recognize themselves in a strong patriotism, love for their families and sense of duty, who can endure the loss of their sons who had joined the Army to serve their homeland, who can struggle against tornadoes and floods and always find a way out. They are so strongly united, even if their great grandparents came from all different countries.
The U.S.A. are the homeland of cowboys, country music and Tex Willer! And Coca Cola and almost everything we know. The Americans flew to the Moon!
...I could keep on writing for another couple of hours.

I know my thoughts about U.S.A. are full of clichés, but it doesn't matter. Everybody needs to dream, and I'm really looking forward to my next American trip. I can't help but thinking that the United States could be the right place for me.

American friends, please feel free to leave a comment and tell me about where you live and your lifestyle ;)

  1. Thank you for visiting my blog!

It's funny to me that you see the US as a united place, because for me, who was born here and lived here all her 53 years, there has never been a time when the country seemed more disconnected and unfriendly. I'd love to emigrate, but the costs are prohibitive and distance from my children and grandchildren would be too hard to bear.

You asked for more information about my project. This post on my blog gives you detail about how my project works. If you would like to help my contact information is in the right sidebar on my blog.

  2. Thank you for leaving this comment. It is important to me to try to understand what's going on over there and what American people actually think about their homeland.
I know what you mean when you say this is probably the worse period you've ever seen for the American famous "unity". That's why I highlighted my post was full of clichés... I had written about what I think about U.S.A., living on the other side of the world and having experienced American lifestyle during two shorts trips. I need to know what's true and what was just created by my imagination :)

I'd be glad to help you with your project. I'll learn more about it as soon as possible. 'till then, good luck with it!

    Keep in touch :)
